Working toward a better world tomorrow means doing something different today. It takes knowledge, skill, practice, and confidence to open up and facilitate learning how race, social class, gender, sexuality, dis/Ability, body size, language, and religion shape our students’ worlds and their experiences with school and learning.
Getting smarter about the research and stretching our own ways of knowing can dramatically alter students’ experiences in schools. Integrating ideas about mindfulness and presence with critical literacies and justice-oriented practices will support healing and cultivate vibrant, connected communities of learning.
